Wayve and Stellantis Partnership: Autopilot System to Launch in 2028

Stellantis, the automotive group owning Jeep and Ram, has announced a partnership with the UK-based startup Wayve. According to this agreement, driverless systems will be introduced in Stellantis vehicles starting in 2028. This news was announced at the company's investor day at its headquarters in Michigan. This is reported by Techcrunch.com .

Wayve recently raised $1.2 billion in a Series D investment round featuring giants like Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Uber. The agreement with Stellantis is the startup's second major commercial deal and aims for large-scale technology deployment. The initial focus will be on the North American market, specifically brands like Chrysler and Dodge.

The uniqueness of Wayve's technology lies in its independence from specific sensors, chips, or high-definition maps. The system operates on an "end-to-end" neural network and learns to drive using data from existing vehicle sensors. This allows car manufacturers to significantly reduce costs.

Stellantis plans to launch 11 new models in North America by 2030. Wayve's software will support not only driver-assist systems like Tesla Full Self-Driving but also fully autonomous driving intended for future robotaxis. It has not yet been disclosed which specific models will feature this technology.
