Battery issues return to Samsung flagships: Galaxy S25 FE explodes while charging

A Reddit user, idgaf88__, reported that their Samsung Galaxy S25 FE smartphone exploded while charging overnight. The device was being charged using an original cable and a 20W USB-PD adapter. The owner and his son were lying on a mattress nearby, but the phone was not under a pillow. According to the user, he woke up to a loud popping sound, after which metal and plastic fragments scattered from the smartphone, and the room filled with smoke. This is reported by Ixbt.com .

Firefighters arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire. The owner reported suffering minor burns on his neck, and his son was severely frightened. Household items were damaged, and a lingering smell of burning remained in the room. The smartphone was purchased new in Canada six months ago and was in a leather case. Samsung support has registered the complaint, but the company has not yet provided an official response.

This is the third major incident involving Samsung flagships in recent times. Previously, there were reports of a Galaxy S25 Plus exploding while charging and a Galaxy S24 exploding during normal use. The incident involving the Galaxy S24 occurred just two weeks ago, raising concerns among users.

These events recall the major failure involving the Samsung Galaxy Note7 in 2016. At that time, millions of devices were recalled due to battery design flaws, and the model was banned on airplanes. Although the company tightened its inspection system after that scandal, recent incidents are once again raising questions about the safety of flagship devices.
