Air quality in Tashkent has reached a hazardous level for health

At 09:00 on October 13, the amount of PM2.5 particles in the air in Tashkent sharply exceeded the norm. According to automatic monitoring stations, their concentration reached 88.37 mcg/m³, which is 2.5 times higher than the SaNPiN 0053-23 standard.

At the same time, it was noted that the PM10 particle concentration is within the norm (281.4 mcg/m³), as well as the amount of carbon monoxide produced by vehicles and industrial enterprises is at a safe level (0.49 mg/m³), Upl.uz reports.

According to the IQAir international ecological website, Tashkent ranked 4th among cities with the dirtiest air in the world, with a pollution index of 162 points — which is assessed as a harmful level for health.

The following cities are ahead of Tashkent in the ranking:

* Delhi (India)

* Lahore (Pakistan)

* Baghdad (Iraq)

Experts emphasize that this year air quality in Tashkent has deteriorated even before the cold season arrived, while in previous years such a situation was usually observed at the end of autumn.
