BYD Announces High Efficiency of Second-Generation Blade Battery

Sun Huajun, CTO of BYD's battery division, shared his vision for the future of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technology. The company's second-generation Blade Battery can charge from 10 to 97 percent in just nine minutes at 1500 kW stations. This is reported by Ixbt.com .

Even in -30°C cold, the battery maintains its efficiency: the charging process takes only three minutes longer than at room temperature. To support this technology, BYD has launched the "Flash Charge China" strategy, planning to install 20,000 fast-charging stations by the end of the year.

Although some experts expressed concerns that high power could negatively affect battery overheating and lifespan, Sun Huajun dismissed these concerns as unfounded. According to him, the symmetric structure and dual-sided cooling system of the Blade Battery allow for effective thermal management.

The company conducted over 1,000 full fast-charging cycles to verify battery reliability and modeled trips over extreme distances. Additionally, in a recent live stream, bloggers dismantled the battery pack using various mechanical tools, demonstrating its durability in practice.
