Uzbekistan U17 team fights for a spot in the final against Japan

The Uzbekistan U17 national team is preparing for one of the most important matches of the AFC U17 Asian Cup. Sergey Chigodayev's side will face Japan in the semifinals. Ahead of the match, head coach Sergey Chigodayev and defender Muhammad Hakimov attended a press conference to share their thoughts on the upcoming clash.

Sergey Chigodayev noted that the coaching staff is conducting a deep analysis of the Japan national team, studying their strengths and weaknesses. The coach described the Japanese side as disciplined, technically gifted, and fast.

"We are studying Japan. We are analyzing their strengths and weaknesses; I can say that our opponent is a disciplined team. This is not our first time playing them; we have already played three friendly matches before. They have fast and technically skilled players. However, tomorrow's game will tell; it will be an interesting match for both teams," said Chigodayev.

The Uzbekistan U17 team holds the status of defending champion. Last year, our representatives won the Asian Cup in this age category. Chigodayev stated that the team wants to repeat this result, but understands that the path will not be easy.

"Last year, our team won this competition in this age category. Of course, we will try to repeat this result. It is not easy, but we will put all our efforts into it. There are no simple games in the semifinals; it is natural that every match will be difficult. We will fight," the head coach added.

Team defender Muhammad Hakimov also mentioned that the players are preparing for the match against Japan with high spirits. According to him, all players understand the importance of the semifinal and will take the field only for victory.

"My teammates and I are preparing for tomorrow's game. God willing, we will put on a good performance. It will be a difficult and interesting match. We will go onto the pitch to win. This is a semifinal match, all the boys understand that, and we will enter with the right mindset and try to win," said Hakimov.

The Uzbekistan U17 team has already secured a spot in the FIFA U17 World Cup in this tournament. However, the team's goal is not limited to that. Now the main task is to reach the final and prove once again that they are the strongest team in Asia.

The match against Japan will kick off on May 19 at 20:00 Tashkent time. This clash will be a major test for both teams. While Japan displays disciplined and fast football, Uzbekistan possesses character, confidence, and a strong desire to win.

In short, a big game awaits in the semifinals. The Uzbekistan U17 team will take the field to defend their status as reigning champions and reach the final. Now it's time for action: we expect another brave performance from our youth.
