Deco: Replacing Robert Lewandowski is almost impossible

Barcelona sporting director Deco spoke openly about the difficulty of finding a worthy successor for the team's main striker, Robert Lewandowski. He called the Polish forward the best of the last few years and emphasized that his departure would be a major loss for the club. This is reported by Goal.com .

In an interview with ESPN, Deco explained: “It is almost impossible to replace Robert. He is the best striker of the last few years. In a club like Barcelona, filling the void left by a player of this caliber is very complex, but that is how football works. We have to make decisions and strengthen the team.”

The club official also denied reports that he met with Chelsea forward Joao Pedro regarding a transfer. Previously, the press had circulated information that Deco traveled to London specifically to speak with the Brazilian player's representatives. “I did not go to meet Joao Pedro, that is misinformation,” he said.

Since joining Barcelona in 2022, Robert Lewandowski has contributed significantly to restoring the club's prestige in domestic competition. He has won a total of 7 trophies with the Catalan club, including three La Liga titles. Deco specifically acknowledged the striker's place in the club's history and expressed his gratitude.

Barcelona is currently continuing its search for a new 'number nine'. Among the candidates is Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, though interest from clubs like Arsenal and PSG could complicate the transfer process. Deco added that the club has not ruled anyone out yet and all options are being considered.
