Osipova wins gold, Uzbekistan starts Asian Championship strongly

The kyorugi events of the Asian Taekwondo WT Championship have kicked off in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Encouragingly, the Uzbekistan national team managed to enrich its medal tally on the very first day of the competition.

At the end of the first day, our representatives secured 1 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal. This result demonstrates that our team arrived well-prepared and that our athletes are aiming for high goals on the continental stage.

The brightest result of the day was recorded by Olympic medalist Svetlana Osipova. Competing in the +73 kg weight category, our experienced taekwondo athlete surpassed all her opponents, securing a gold medal for the Uzbekistan national team. This victory for Osipova is not only a personal success but also a great morale booster for the entire team.

Over the years, Svetlana Osipova has demonstrated consistency, strong character, and high athletic skill in her weight category. This gold medal in Ulaanbaatar once again proves that she remains among the continent's top athletes.

Marat Mavlonov, competing in the men's +87 kg category, also achieved a worthy result. He reached the final and secured a silver medal. Although he fell one step short of gold, Mavlonov's result is of great importance to our national team.

In the -54 kg weight category, Jahongir Khudoyberdiyev won a bronze medal. His podium finish shows that Uzbekistan taekwondo is competitive not only in heavy weight classes but also in lighter ones.
