Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Mufti held a telephone conversation

On the eve of the holy and great holiday of Eid al-Adha, and during these blessed days when thousands of our compatriots are performing Hajj rituals on sacred land, a heartwarming event took place in our country. President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a sincere telephone conversation with the Chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, Mufti Sheikh Nuriddin Kholiqnazar.

Through the head of the religious administration, the head of state sincerely congratulated all Uzbek pilgrims currently in the heart of the Islamic world — Makkah al-Mukarramah — on the approaching great holiday. Our President wished that the noble prayers and supplications of our pilgrims for the peace of our Motherland, the prosperity of our people, and the future and happiness of our children be accepted by the Almighty.

100 of our compatriots who went on Hajj for the first time at the state's expense

As a result of reforms in the field of religious freedom in New Uzbekistan in recent years, more than 15,500 of our compatriots are blessed with the opportunity to go on the holy Hajj pilgrimage every year. Especially in the current season, a very noble and unprecedented measure was implemented on the initiative of our head of state.

Consisting of labor veterans who have worked honestly and sincerely for the benefit of the nation for many years, their spouses, active community leaders, elderly fathers and mothers, as well as representatives of socially vulnerable and low-income families 100 of our compatriots for the first time fully at the expense of state funds were sent on the Hajj pilgrimage.

During the conversation, our President inquired deeply about the health and mood of our contemporaries in the holy land and the progress of the arrangements made for them to perform their rituals fully.

Mufti Sheikh Nuriddin Kholiqnazar conveyed that the highest level of conditions have been prepared for Uzbek pilgrims in the cities of Makkah and Madinah, and that all organizational processes are proceeding with high coordination. The Mufti stated that our pilgrims, with hearts full of gratitude, are constantly praying for the clarity of our country's skies and the well-being of our people while in the holy places.

New complexes and centers of enlightenment

During the conversation, it was especially noted that the large-scale updates being carried out in the religious and educational sphere in our country are having a very positive impact on the spiritual life and faith of our people.

In particular, it was emphasized that the following places, which were recently commissioned and have become the focus of the Muslim world, are the main factors in promoting the invaluable scientific heritage of our great ancestors to the world:

  • The magnificent Imam Bukhari Complexin Samarkand;

  • The grand Center for Islamic Civilizationrising in our capital;

  • The Burhanuddin al-Marghinani Scientific-Educational and Tourism Complexin the Fergana region.

Holiday gift: Billions of funds for the needy and sick children

Just yesterday, a special decree was signed by our head of state on celebrating Eid al-Adha in our country with high spirit and grace. Based on this document, comprehensive charity and humanitarian events are planned for the holidays.

Most joyfully, in order to support socially vulnerable groups on the occasion of the holiday:

  1. performing the most complex surgical operations for more than 10,000 sick children; performing the most complex surgical operations;

  2. additional large funds are being allocated by the state for the quality treatment of about 2,000 of our compatriots suffering from serious illnesses. Also, special financial resources will be directed to the improvement of mosques and sacred shrines and cemeteries across the republic.

Our head of state expressed great confidence that our experienced and prayerful pilgrims, upon returning from the holy journey, will be an example to everyone in spreading healthy Islamic enlightenment in our society, especially among the youth, and in strengthening kindness, solidarity, and the spiritual environment in neighborhoods. At the end of the conversation, our President sent his greetings to all pilgrims once again and wished them to return to our country safely and having fulfilled their human duties at an excellent level.

In your opinion, to what extent does sending labor veterans and representatives of low-income families on Hajj at the state's expense strengthen the atmosphere of mutual kindness and social justice in our society?
