Manchester City star Bunny Shaw signs new contract despite Chelsea interest

Manchester City Women have officially announced that they have signed a new long-term contract with their star striker Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw. Despite serious interest from Chelsea, the Jamaican international has decided to commit her future to the 'Cityzens'. Under the new deal, the 29-year-old forward will remain in Manchester until 2030, reports Goal.com reports .

This good news was announced at the club's 2025-26 season awards ceremony, shortly after Shaw was named 'Player of the Season' by Etihad. In her interview, the striker emphasized that Manchester City has become a home for her and expressed her pride in winning the Women's Super League (WSL) title with the team.

Shaw is considered one of the most prolific strikers in the history of English women's football. She became the first player to win the 'Golden Boot' for three consecutive seasons. In the completed season, she scored 21 goals in 22 matches, securing her team's victory in the title race. She has a total of 117 goals and 28 assists in 137 appearances for Manchester City.

Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor had previously made no secret of her desire to bring Shaw to her squad, but the Manchester City board managed to retain their leader. This comes as a significant blow to rivals in the transfer market and proves once again how high the ambitions of the Manchester club are.
