Elon Musk sells Tesla Cybertruck pickups to his own companies amid falling demand

Financial documents from SpaceX show that companies owned by Elon Musk are actively supporting each other. Since 2023, Tesla has generated nearly $890 million in revenue from SpaceX and xAI. A significant portion of these funds was directed toward purchasing Cybertruck electric vehicles. This is reported by Ixbt.com .
In 2025 alone, SpaceX purchased $131 million worth of electric pickups. Depending on the configuration, this amounts to approximately 1,300 to 1,800 vehicles. According to registration data, SpaceX bought over 1,200 Cybertrucks in the fourth quarter of 2025, accounting for more than 18% of the model's total sales during that period.
Furthermore, other Musk ventures—xAI, Neuralink, and The Boring Company—have also participated in the purchases. This internal activity coincides with a decline in market demand for the Cybertruck model. While Tesla sold nearly 39,000 units in 2024, that figure dropped to 20,000 in 2025 and fell further in early 2026.
Beyond vehicles, SpaceX and xAI are also actively purchasing Tesla energy solutions: $191 million was spent on Megapack systems in 2024, and $506 million in 2025. Officially, the transactions are conducted at market rates, but analysts point out that Musk's internal ecosystem is artificially propping up Tesla's figures at a time when interest from regular buyers is waning.
