Ferrari's first electric car: Luce surprises everyone

Ferrari has unveiled its first fully electric model, the Luce, causing a major stir in the automotive world. This five-seater (yes, you read that right!) was designed by legendary former Apple designer Jony Ive and his LoveFrom co-founder Marc Newson. Although its technical specs are impressive—1000 horsepower and 0-100 km/h in under two seconds—the car's exterior design has become the most criticized since the Cybertruck. This is reported by Techcrunch.com .
The wedge-shaped design of the Luce and its resemblance to Nissan models have angered many car enthusiasts. Even prestigious publications, including Bloomberg, called this design unexpected and somewhat strange for Ferrari. Against the backdrop of this negative reaction, the company's stock price has also begun to fall. The main question remains: who is this car actually for? Priced at nearly $650,000, this model is not only expensive but also not accessible to everyone due to Ferrari's strict customer selection policy.
More than 80 percent of Ferrari owners are loyal customers who have previously owned the brand's cars. However, for fans accustomed to the aggressive, sharp-edged Ferrari designs that have decorated bedroom walls for decades, the smooth and soft shapes of the Luce may seem incomprehensible. Nevertheless, the car's interior features many mechanical buttons and rotating controls uncharacteristic of Jony Ive, which could serve as a new direction for other designers.
One of the main reasons for this project is the European Union's strict requirement to ban internal combustion engine vehicles starting in 2035. Jony Ive compared this project to the period when the Swiss watch brand Patek Philippe transitioned from mechanical to quartz movements. In his view, Ferrari must successfully navigate a similar transition and adapt to new technologies while preserving its traditions.
