De Laurentiis reveals his plan to get Italian football out of the crisis

After the Italian national team "missed out" on a place in the 2026 World Cup, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has announced a detailed plan to resolve the dire situation in the country's football.

It should be recalled that Gennaro Gattuso's team lost to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the decisive match (1:1, pen. 1:4) and missed out on the World Cup for the third time in a row. This result was a heavy blow not only to the national team, but also to the entire Italian football community.

According to De Laurentiis, “Serie A used to have 16 teams, now it’s 20. If we go back to 16 and stop the Super Cup in Saudi Arabia, we can save the players’ energy. We pay their salaries, not FIFA or UEFA. This will give the national team more time to train and prepare.”

According to him, there is no point in looking for blame now, because Italian football has been “sleeping” and unchanged for many years. De Laurentiis, however, expressed confidence in the process of standing on the truth and implementing effective reforms.

Thus, the systemic problems of Italian football and the possible reforms proposed by De Laurentiis are expected to cause heated discussions and public outcry in the near future.
