Arnold Allen criticizes Khabib Nurmagomedov's approach to diet

Arnold Allen, ranked seventh in the UFC featherweight division, shared his thoughts on the importance of discipline, preparation, and proper nutrition for fighters. During the interview, the English athlete also criticized MMA legend Khabib Nurmagomedov's approach to dieting.

Allen stated that for a professional fighter, working hard in the gym is not enough. Proper recovery and timely intake of necessary calories and carbohydrates are essential parts of the preparation process.

"For the last three days, I've only been consuming carbohydrates and working with the best specialists," he said.

According to the UFC fighter, an athlete should not ease up on preparation 8–10 weeks before a fight. Otherwise, problems with weight cutting, recovery, and general condition may arise. He believes not all fighters approach this process with enough professionalism.

Allen noted that some athletes train very hard but cannot properly calculate the energy, calories, and carbohydrates their bodies need. It was at this point that he cited Khabib Nurmagomedov as an example.

"Honestly, I have to criticize Khabib here. It's true he is one of the greatest fighters in history, but being disciplined in training is one thing, and maintaining a proper diet is another," said the English athlete.

These comments are bound to spark debate among MMA fans, as Khabib Nurmagomedov went down in history for his iron discipline, high-level physical conditioning, and undefeated record. At the same time, the weight-cutting process has always been one of the most sensitive and controversial topics in MMA.

Arnold Allen emphasizes the importance of a modern approach to this issue. In his view, a fighter should not just limit themselves to training, but work with specialists, plan nutrition scientifically, and ensure proper body recovery.

As a reminder, Arnold Allen has recorded 21 wins and 4 losses in professional MMA. He is one of the experienced fighters ranked high in the featherweight division.

In short, while acknowledging Khabib's greatness, Allen criticized him regarding diet and recovery. In modern MMA, it is not just strength and character, but grams, calories, and carbohydrates that can decide the fate of a fight. In modern sports, the scale is as serious an opponent as the fighter.
