Elon Musk loses lawsuit against OpenAI

A federal court in Oakland has dismissed Elon Musk's lawsuit against OpenAI. According to the court's decision, the billionaire raised his objections against the company he helped found too late. The jury reached this unanimous conclusion after less than two hours of deliberation. This is reported by Ixbt.com .

In his 2024 lawsuit, Elon Musk accused OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and President Greg Brockman of breaching initial agreements. According to him, the company, created as a non-profit organization, was later turned into a for-profit business by attracting billions of dollars in investment from partners like Microsoft. Musk claimed he invested $38 million in the project and was sidelined after the company's structure was changed.

OpenAI representatives argued that Musk's claims were baseless and that he only decided to object after the AI market achieved significant financial growth. The trial lasted 11 days and became one of the most high-profile disputes in the field of artificial intelligence. Both parties attempted to damage each other's reputations during the proceedings.

OpenAI was founded in 2015 by Sam Altman, Elon Musk, and other entrepreneurs as a non-profit organization. Musk left the board of directors in 2018, and in 2019, the company created a commercial division to attract investments. Currently, OpenAI competes with Google DeepMind, Anthropic, and Musk's own company, xAI.
