Liverpool urged to spend big for Luis Enrique

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has urged the Reds' hierarchy to pull out all the stops for Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique. The team's underwhelming Premier League campaign under Arne Slot, currently sitting in fifth place, has cast doubt on the Dutch manager's future. This is reported by Goal.com .
In an interview on talkSPORT, Murphy predicted that Slot's tenure at Anfield would not last long. He believes that if the team remains in fifth or sixth place after the first eight games of next season, the manager will be dismissed. The former player is specifically recommending Luis Enrique to the Liverpool board.
Luis Enrique managed to reach the Champions League final twice in a row with Paris Saint-Germain. Murphy noted that the Spanish tactician might be bored with the monotony of the French league and would surely be interested in a new challenge in the Premier League. "What could he do in a boring league where he wins every week? He needs real competition," says Murphy.
Liverpool fans miss the "heavy metal football" of the Jurgen Klopp era—a style based on high pressing and rapid attacks. Murphy believes Luis Enrique is the only manager capable of bringing that style back. The current playing style of Paris Saint-Germain is very similar to the tactics of Klopp's best years.
Arne Slot is currently facing serious criticism from fans and players in the dressing room. Although Liverpool secured a Champions League spot, their early exit from the title race is forcing the board to consider new candidates.
