Italian car brand Itala revived after 92 years

The historic Italian car brand Itala has been revived after a 92-year hiatus. Former Ferrari technical director Roberto Fedeli has been appointed to oversee the technical aspects of the project. This initiative is part of the expansion strategy of DR Automobiles, a company that has been adapting Chinese cars for the European market for the last 20 years. This is reported by Autocar.co.uk reports .

The first modern Itala 35 model, presented at the Turin Motor Show, is a 4.4-meter crossover based on the GAC Trumpchi GS3. The car's price starts at 35,000 euros. While Fedeli's team re-engineered the suspension, Italdesign updated the exterior, and local firms revamped the interior with red leather and Alcantara.

As part of its "Historic Italian Brands" plan, DR Automobiles plans to open two new production lines at its Macchia d'Isernia plant with a 50 million euro investment. This project is expected to create about 500 new jobs.

The company aims to open 50 dealerships for Itala and another revived brand, Osca, in the near future. The first dealership has opened its doors in Turin, the brand's historic home.
