Larger and cheaper than Toyota Camry: Geely Galaxy Star 7 unveiled

Geely has made a splash in the automotive market with a compelling offer. The new Galaxy Star 7 hybrid sedan, reaching 5 meters in length, has been launched. This model is designed to compete with spacious sedans like the Toyota Camry and Avalon. Most notably, while the 2.5-liter hybrid version of the Toyota Camry costs over 200,000 yuan, the Geely Galaxy Star 7 is much more affordable, priced between 109,000 and 140,000 yuan (approximately $15,000 – $19,500). This is reported by Ixbt.com reports.
The vehicle is equipped with the Thor AI Hybrid 2.0 system. It is based on a 1.5-liter (111 hp) gasoline engine and electric motors. The rear-wheel-drive version features a single 190 hp motor, with a total system output of 301 hp. The all-wheel-drive (e-AWD) variant includes two electric motors, reaching a total output of 425 hp. All versions come with a 28.3 kWh battery, offering an electric-only range of 220-230 km.
The dimensions of the Galaxy Star 7 are 4958 x 1915 x 1505 mm, with a wheelbase of 2852 mm. The car features a front McPherson strut suspension and a rear multi-link suspension. The system is adaptive and includes a stability control function that maintains control even if a tire blows out at speeds up to 160 km/h.
The interior focuses on comfort: soft-touch materials, double-pane glass, 256-color ambient lighting, and a 16-speaker audio system. The driver gets a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, a media screen up to 15.4 inches, and a 16.6-inch head-up display (HUD). The front seats feature ventilation, heating, and massage functions, while rear passengers enjoy folding tables. The autonomous driving system allows for highway pilot and automatic parking.
