No Uzbek citizens harmed in Bangkok tragedy — official statement


A serious traffic accident that occurred in Bangkok on May 16 of this year has drawn public attention. Casualties were reported following a collision between a freight train and a passenger bus.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan issued an official statement regarding the incident, confirming that no Uzbek citizens were harmed. This news brought relief to many of our compatriots.
According to preliminary reports, 8 people died in this tragic incident, and 33 injured individuals received medical assistance. As of May 17, 15 of the injured have been discharged from the hospital, while 18 others continue to receive treatment.
So far, it has been determined that two of the deceased were Thai citizens. Investigations into the identities of the remaining individuals are ongoing.
According to the forensic department of the Police General Hospital, there are no Uzbek citizens among the victims. This information has been confirmed through relevant sources.
Furthermore, the consular office of Uzbekistan in Thailand is monitoring the situation closely and has stated its readiness to take prompt action if necessary.
