Detained with Drugs at the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan Border

According to the press service of the State Security Service (SSS), a drug trafficker was apprehended during a special operation. SSS officers, in collaboration with border troops, internal affairs authorities, and the customs administration, conducted a special rapid operation in the Namangan region.
During the operation, at the "Yangier" border post in Uychi district, a resident of Uchqurgan district, born in 1975, was detained for illegally crossing the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan state border. A personal search revealed 9.7 kilograms of hashish in the individual’s possession.
A criminal case has been initiated under the Articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan for "Illegal Border Crossing" and "Smuggling." The crime carries a penalty of up to 20 years of imprisonment.
Currently, the investigation is ongoing.
