X to launch XChat with Bitcoin-style encryption

𝕏 is preparing to launch XChat, a new messaging platform set to replace current Direct Messages, reported Rozetked.me. Some paid users already have beta access to the service.
Elon Musk confirmed the launch and shared key features:
“We’re launching an entirely new XChat with encryption, disappearing messages, file sharing of any type, and audio/video calls. It’s built in Rust, with Bitcoin-style encryption and a completely new architecture.”
One notable feature: no phone number will be required to use XChat.
A full release date for all users has yet to be announced.
