MegaFon installs first domestic base station in a million-plus city

Russian mobile operator MegaFon has installed a locally manufactured base station in Nizhny Novgorod. Developed in partnership with Yadro, this equipment provides data transmission speeds of up to 110 Mbps. This is reported by Ixbt.com .

Company representatives stated that the Yadro station was deployed for the first time in a city with over a million residents. The equipment supports the LTE standard and allows for a quick transition to 5G technology in the future without dismantling the hardware.

The new base station covers the Nizhnevolzhskaya and Fedorovskaya embankments, the Kanavinsky Bridge, Rozhdestvenskaya Street, and the area around the Blagoveshchensky Monastery. These areas are among the city's busiest and most important for tourism.

Nizhny Novgorod Region Governor Gleb Nikitin noted that this technological solution provides high-quality connectivity while blending harmoniously with the historical landscape. This project is a significant step toward developing Russia's telecommunications infrastructure with local import-substitution technologies.
