Baikal Electronics to produce new chip compatible with Nvidia CUDA

The Russian company "Baikal Electronics" plans to introduce a new series of artificial intelligence chips scheduled for 2029–2030. The main feature of this project is that the chips will be fully compatible with the Nvidia CUDA ecosystem for the first time in Russia. This was reported by Ixbt.com reports .
The company intends to develop two models. The first, the Baikal-AI-E1000, is designed for industrial automation, transport, and monitoring systems. Its power consumption does not exceed 30 W, its frequency reaches up to 2 GHz, and in terms of capabilities, it is close to Nvidia Jetson devices.
The second model, the Baikal-AI-D1000, is a powerful accelerator intended for servers and data centers. It provides performance of 1000 TFLOPS (FP8) and 500 TFLOPS (FP16) and will have up to 64 GB of memory. The estimated price of the device is expected to be around 10,000 USD.
The main goal of this project is to achieve independence in AI infrastructure and reduce dependence on foreign suppliers, particularly Nvidia, which leads the market. Supporting CUDA technology is considered a strategic step that allows developers to use existing software.
