Spotify launches app to compete with Google's NotebookLM

In the era of artificial intelligence, many companies are focusing on combining email, calendars, and documents to create daily briefings in text or audio format. Spotify has joined this trend by introducing a new standalone desktop app called Studio by Spotify Labs. This tool allows users to create custom podcasts to explore specific topics. This is reported by Techcrunch.com reports .

The new Studio app is equipped with a special agent capable of searching the internet and gathering personal data. For example, it can create a personalized podcast based on the user's email and work schedule. Users can make complex requests such as "Prepare an audio briefing for my trip to Italy, plan my day based on my calendar, and recommend a podcast for the road."

All AI-generated podcasts are saved in the user's Spotify library and synced across all devices. Importantly, these audio files are not public and are intended for personal use only. The company warned that this app is currently in an early testing phase and the AI may sometimes provide inaccurate information.

This tool competes with Google's NotebookLM service, which popularized creating podcasts based on sources a few years ago. Currently, such formats are also being adopted by companies like Adobe and ElevenLabs. It is expected that through its new app, Spotify will not only create podcasts but also introduce note-taking features for meetings, similar to Granola, in the future.
