Spotify introduces new AI-powered features for podcasts

Spotify aims to transform its platform from a place to simply listen to podcasts into a space for creating them. The company is introducing a feature to create personalized podcasts using AI based on user ideas or specific prompts. Soon, users will be able to create daily or weekly short briefings, as well as one-off audio materials to help understand specific topics, directly within the Spotify app. This is reported by Techcrunch.com .

Through the new system, users can send requests like "Explain the economy in five minutes" or "Give me information about my favorite artists' concerts." There is also an option to upload links, PDF files, and texts to create podcasts, and even choose voice types. Spotify is taking inspiration from technologies like NotebookLM and ElevenLabs. Additionally, the Studio by Spotify Labs desktop app has been introduced, which connects to a user's email and calendar to prepare personal reports.

An AI-powered Q&A feature for podcasts has been launched for Premium subscribers in the US, Sweden, and Ireland. Listeners can now ask questions about concepts mentioned during a podcast or get recommendations on interesting topics. This feature is similar to the recently introduced Ask YouTube service by Google and ensures more active user engagement with content.

There is also news for podcast creators: Spotify is introducing sponsorship tools to manage brand partnerships and a paid subscription system for exclusive content. Such opportunities were previously implemented on social networks like Instagram, Facebook, and Snap. According to the company, video podcast consumption has increased by 50 percent compared to last year, and new AI features are expected to further accelerate this growth.
