Turkey to Provide Close Support for Modernization of Uzbekistan's Army

The centuries-old bonds of friendship and brotherhood between Uzbekistan and Turkey are reaching a new, strategic level today. The two nations are joining forces not only in economic and cultural spheres but also in defense and security.

Turkish Minister of National Defense Yaşar Gülerstated that Ankara has sent a special group of military advisors to Tashkent to assist in the systematic reform and modernization of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan. This was reported by the influential Turkish publication Sabah .

The Turkish Model: Why was this system chosen?

Yaşar Güler emphasized that a number of "friendly and brotherly countries" around the world are showing great interest in the high expertise and effective structure of the Turkish army today.

"Uzbekistan is one of these close and brotherly states. Just as we did in Azerbaijan, we have mobilized an experienced group of our military advisors to Uzbekistan," said the Turkish Minister of Defense.

Recall that in January of this year, an important cooperation plan was signed between the defense ministries of Uzbekistan and Turkey. This document includes strategic tasks such as organizing joint military exercises, training professional personnel, and developing the military-medical field.

Experience tested and victorious in Azerbaijan

Experts note that the model being implemented by Turkey in the Uzbek defense system yielded high results in Azerbaijan at the time. Following the historic "Shusha Declaration" signed in 2021, the military partnership between Baku and Ankara reached a new level.

Within the framework of this successful project, the Azerbaijani army was completely updated based on Turkish standards, and the number of joint exercises increased exponentially. Most importantly, a robust system was created for using innovative technologies in the defense industry, particularly the world-famous Bayraktar unmanned aerial vehicles.

Now, such modern and battle-tested military experience will serve to further increase the power of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan. This will undoubtedly be an important foundation for ensuring stability and security not only in our country but throughout the Central Asian region.
