Flash flood risk in 9 regions ahead of the holiday

Uzhydromet has issued an urgent warning regarding adverse weather conditions expected across the country from May 26 to June 1. It is reported that heavy rainfall may lead to flash floods in foothill and mountainous areas.

According to the warning, flash floods are possible in the Yakkabag, Dehkanabad, Chirakchi, Kitab, Shahrisabz, Kamashi, and Guzar districts of the Kashkadarya region. The Sariosiyo, Uzun, Altinsoy, Denau, Baysun, Sherabad, Shurchi, Kumkurgan, and Muzrabad districts of the Surkhandarya region are also listed as high-risk areas.

In the Samarkand region, the Urgut, Samarkand, Bulungur, Nurabad, Kushrabat, Kattakurgan, Payaryk, Jambay, and Ishtikhan districts, as well as the Khatyrchi, Navbahor, Nurata, Kanimekh, and Karmana districts of the Navoi region, are also at risk of flooding.

Furthermore, high risks were reported in the Zamin, Bakhmal, Gallaaral, Sharof Rashidov, Farish, and Yangiabad districts of the Jizzakh region, the Akhangaran, Bostanlyk, Parkent, Piskent, Urtachirchik, and Yukorichirchik districts of the Tashkent region, as well as the cities of Angren and Almalyk.

Flash flood events are also possible in the Pap, Kasansay, Chartak, Chust, Namangan, and Yangikurgan districts of the Namangan region, the Sokh, Shahimardan, Fergana, and Besharyk districts of the Fergana region, and the Andijan, Asaka, Jalaquduk, Kurgan-tepa, Pakhtaabad, Izbaskan, Khojaabad, and Marhamat districts and the city of Khanabad in the Andijan region.

Experts are urging residents, vacationers, and drivers in foothill and mountainous areas to exercise caution and strictly follow safety measures. It was also noted that there is a possibility of flooding in some areas due to the accumulation of rainwater.
