Lucescu resigns: health problems were the reason for the decision

The Romanian Football Federation has officially announced the resignation of Mircea Lucescu, the head coach of the national team. It is emphasized that this decision was made after serious circumstances related to the health of the experienced specialist.
Earlier, there were reports that the 80-year-old coach unexpectedly fainted before training and was taken to the hospital. According to recent reports, a defibrillator is planned to be installed in order to stabilize his health.
At the same time, Lucescu's second career in the Romanian national team has also ended. He has been managing the team since 2024, having previously worked effectively with this team from 1981 to 1986. His vast experience and contribution to football have always been highly appreciated by fans.
It should be recalled that Romania lost 0:1 to Turkey in the play-off round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Later, the Turks also defeated Kosovo in the final and managed to secure a place in the World Cup.
Of course, Lucescu's departure could be an important turning point for Romanian football. Now the team is expected to begin a rebuilding phase under a new coach. The most important thing is the health of the legendary specialist. Because football waits, but health comes first.
