Cafu: Neymar has been left alone for too long in the Brazil national team

Brazilian football legend Cafu emphasized that the unfair burden placed on Neymar for over a decade has hindered the Seleção's path to a sixth World Cup title. The former defender pointed to the lack of strong support around Neymar as the main reason for the 24-year trophy drought. This is reported by Goal.com .
Cafu recalled that in the 2002 winning squad, stars like Ronaldo, Rivaldo, and Ronaldinho played together. In his opinion, the team's success back then did not depend on a single player; instead, responsibility was shared equally. However, since 2010, Neymar has been forced to carry almost all the weight alone.
"When I spoke with Roberto Carlos, I said how sad it was that this guy was left alone. He has been forced to do everything for 15 years, but acting alone is useless. When it comes to the national team, responsibility must be shared," the legendary defender noted.
Cafu added that for the Brazil national team to succeed at the 2026 World Cup, new leaders must emerge around Neymar. According to him, the team should now rely on collective play rather than individual skill.
