Jose Mourinho returns to Real Madrid: Transfer fee doubles

Jose Mourinho has reached an agreement on a three-year contract with Real Madrid, but an unexpected financial hurdle has significantly increased the transfer cost. Although the return of the manager nicknamed "The Special One" to the Santiago Bernabéu seemed almost certain, delays in official documentation have more than doubled his buyout clause. This is reported by Goal.com reports .
According to RTP, the main reason for this delay is that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is facing serious competition in the elections for the first time in twenty years. As Perez fights to retain his position against Enrique Riquelme, the club's internal political processes have pushed the signing of Mourinho to the background. As a result, the Portuguese specialist remains officially a member of Benfica.
This administrative delay has cost the Spanish giants dearly. The deadline that would have allowed Real Madrid to acquire Mourinho for 7 million euros expired on May 26. Now, 15 million euros must be paid to Benfica for the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager. This situation has given Lisbon club president Rui Costa the upper hand in negotiations.
Despite financial and political complexities, Jose Mourinho is fully prepared to return to Madrid. He managed Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013, winning the La Liga title with a record 100 points. Thirteen years later, he aims to finish what he started and restore the club's hegemony in the domestic championship.
Under the new agreement, a three-year contract will be signed with Jose Mourinho. If he wins the La Liga title within the first 24 months, special clauses in the contract will further solidify his stay at the club. Currently, all attention is focused on the outcome of the presidential elections at the Madrid club.
