Cupra Tindaya to enter series production: A new rival for the BMW iX3

The Cupra brand is preparing its radical Tindaya sports crossover concept for series production in the coming years. This new flagship electric vehicle is expected to compete in the market with models such as the BMW iX3 and Volvo EX60. The Tindaya was showcased at last year's Munich Motor Show as an example of the next evolution of Cupra's design language and driver-focused technologies. This is reported by Autocar.co.uk .
Seat-Cupra CEO Wayne Griffiths confirmed to Autocar that designers and engineers are working on the final version of the car. According to him, this 4.72-meter-long model will sit above the brand's Tavascan and Terramar models. "It looks amazing, why shouldn't we build it? I promise this car will be on the streets in a few years," said Griffiths.
The new model will allow Cupra to enter the important European premium SUV segment. Currently, this segment is led by models such as the Audi Q5, BMW X3, and Mercedes GLC. The Tindaya will be based on the Volkswagen Group's new SSP platform. Audi is planned to be the first to use this platform, which offers high-tech capabilities.
The car's price is expected to be around £60,000, placing it alongside rivals like the Genesis GV70 and Lexus RZ. It is currently unknown whether the 489 hp powertrain presented in the concept version will remain in the production model. The company's management plans to maintain flexibility in choosing the most optimal engine and power systems based on market demand.
