Prevention inspector who 'patronized' sex workers in Tashkent jailed

A court verdict has been issued against an internal affairs officer in Tashkent who regularly received money in exchange for not taking action against women providing intimate services and warning them about raids in advance.

According to documents, a senior prevention inspector of the 4th Internal Affairs Department of the Yakkasaroy District Internal Affairs Administration demanded $400 per month for 'patronizing' women operating in the 'Istanbul City' residential complex, refraining from administrative measures, and providing advance warnings about 'Oriyat' law enforcement operations.

It was revealed that on November 28, 2025, during an operational event conducted by the State Security Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the inspector was caught red-handed while receiving the $400.

During the trial, it was determined that the prevention inspector had previously received various sums of money for turning a blind eye to the illegal activities of certain women, warning them about raids, and failing to draw up administrative reports.

The defendant partially admitted his guilt in court, confirming that he had received the money but claimed he had not demanded it. He stated that the funds were provided by the woman voluntarily.

By the verdict of the Mirobod District Court for Criminal Cases, the former prevention inspector was found guilty of committing the crime of bribery under Part 1 of Article 210 of the Criminal Code.

According to the sentence, he was deprived of the right to work in internal affairs agencies for 2 years and sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment. It was determined that the sentence should be served in a settlement colony.
