Cristiano Ronaldo and Ivan Toney surpassed: A new top scorer in Saudi Arabia

Mexico international and Al-Qadsiah star Julian Quinones has achieved a surprise result, winning the Saudi Pro League Golden Boot. The forward dramatically took the lead on the final matchday, surpassing high-profile rivals like Al-Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and Al-Ahli striker Ivan Toney. This is reported by Goal.com .

In a turn of events that almost no one predicted at the start of the season, Quinones was officially declared the league's top scorer. The Mexican player delivered a masterclass in the final round against Al-Ittihad. His hat-trick in the 5-1 victory brought his season tally to 33 goals, propelling him to the top of the scoring charts.

Before the final round, Quinones had 30 goals, trailing Ivan Toney who led with 32. Cristiano Ronaldo had 26 goals at that time. The forward, who joined Al-Qadsiah from Club América in the summer of 2024, saved his best performance for the decisive moment.

With this result, Quinones denied Cristiano Ronaldo the chance to win a third consecutive Golden Boot in Saudi Arabia. Although the Portuguese legend scored a brace in the 4-1 win over Damac on the final day to finish the season with 28 goals, it was not enough to catch Julian Quinones.

The race was intense until the end: former Brentford striker Ivan Toney finished the season in second place with 32 goals. Toney, playing for Al-Ahli, failed to score against Al-Khaleej in the final round, allowing the Al-Qadsiah forward to overtake him at the last moment.

Although Cristiano Ronaldo missed out on the individual award this time, his historic record still stands. The Al-Nassr captain remains the all-time record holder for most goals in a single Saudi Pro League season. Despite their efforts, Quinones and Toney could not break the 35-goal mark set by Ronaldo in the 2023-24 season.
