First private 5G network to be launched in Russia

Russian mobile operator Megafon has announced the launch of the country's first corporate private 5G network. This network was specifically developed for a large mining and chemical enterprise in the Arctic region, primarily serving to remotely control unmanned vehicles. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .

The use of 5G technology within the project is expected to significantly increase safety levels. High speeds and minimal latency in data transmission will reduce the need for humans to be present in hazardous production zones and ensure the stable operation of autonomous equipment.

The partnership agreement is being signed during the "Sifrovaya industriya promyshlennoy Rossii" (SIPR) conference in Russia. Previously, local operators only offered private networks based on LTE for business, making this project the first experiment with the 5G standard in the country.
