Senate approves strengthening of digital labeling system
At the latest plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the law "On amendments and additions to the Tax Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with increasing the efficiency of the digital labeling system" was discussed. The document is aimed at supporting entrepreneurship, creating a healthy competitive environment, and preventing the turnover of illegal products in the country. Senators emphasized that digital labeling of goods is of great importance in protecting consumers from low-quality and counterfeit products. This system encourages manufacturers to strictly adhere to quality standards and serves to reduce the share of the shadow economy.
The law introduces new procedures to the Tax Code. According to it, after two official warnings for violations regarding mandatory labeling of goods, a remote tax audit is envisaged. The audit period is set at 5 days, and its results will be formalized in electronic form.
At the end of the discussion, the senators approved this law. These changes are expected to pave the way for curbing the illegal circulation of goods such as alcohol, tobacco products, medicines, and soft drinks, as well as ensuring markets are supplied with high-quality products.
