Army of robots used in construction of the world's largest railway station

China deployed an army of robots to complete the world's largest railway station in just 38 months. The project is the Chongqing East Railway Station, the largest hub for high-speed trains in the western part of the country. The scale and futuristic design of the project impressed even Elon Musk. This is reported by Ixbt.com .

Elon Musk shared a video of this megaproject on his social network, calling it a "window into the future." With a total area of nearly 1.22 million square meters, the super-station is a key link in the regional transport system. The rapid construction of such a massive structure contrasts sharply with international projects that often take decades.

Complex natural conditions—mountainous terrain, intersections, and summer heat exceeding 40°C—made traditional construction methods inefficient. To overcome these obstacles, contractors relied on automated technologies capable of working with high precision and stability in extreme environments.

During the foundation phase, robotic systems equipped with laser levelers, LiDAR, artificial intelligence, and 5G connectivity were used. This allowed for controlling the flatness of concrete surfaces with millimeter precision, increasing work speed by 3-5 times, and reducing labor costs by 40 percent.

In addition, robots capable of installing glass facades weighing up to 800 kg, automatic welding systems, and 24-hour monitoring sensors were utilized. This equipment not only increased productivity but also reduced risks for workers at heights and ensured consistent quality in harsh climatic conditions.
