Honor 600 Pro becomes the world's first smartphone with MediaTek Dimensity 8550 chip

MediaTek has officially unveiled the new Dimensity 8550 system-on-chip, a slightly improved version of the Dimensity 8500 model. The most significant innovation of the new platform is the introduction of LLM Booster technology and the integration of the Gemini Nano V3 neural network. This technology allows artificial intelligence algorithms to run locally directly on the smartphone without connecting to cloud servers. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .
The NPU 880 neural processor remains responsible for processing artificial intelligence algorithms within the platform. The rest of the new system's architecture is almost identical to its predecessor. The SoC is manufactured using TSMC's 4nm N4P process. The CPU consists exclusively of Cortex-A725 cores operating at different frequencies: one core at 3.4 GHz, three at 3.2 GHz, and four at 2.2 GHz.
The Mali-G720 MC8 processor is responsible for graphics processing. It supports screens with 1440p+ resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate. The platform is also designed to work with LPDDR5X RAM (up to 9600 Mbps bandwidth) and UFS 4.0 flash storage.
The device is equipped with an integrated 5G modem, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.4 adapters. The world's first commercial smartphone based on the MediaTek Dimensity 8550 is the recently introduced Honor 600 Pro model.
