The turning point came in the 44th minute. Alex Moreno burst into the box from the left and squared the ball to the middle. Vladyslav Vanat came up with an unusual finish, steering it into the net with a backheel to open the scoring.
In the second half, Osasuna increased their possession and pushed forward more actively. Garcia tested the crossbar with a long-range strike, adding intrigue. Girona managed the game pragmatically and stayed well organized in defense. Gassani was confident coming off his line, neutralizing aerial deliveries in time.
VAR reviewed an episode for a potential second goal for the hosts, but the score remained unchanged. Osasuna ramped up the pressure late on, yet failed to find an equalizer.
