100 MW energy storage systems to be built in Southern Russia

The Russian Ministry of Energy plans to launch additional energy storage systems with a total capacity of 100 MW in the south of the country. The implementation deadline for this project is set for next year or by the end of 2026. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .
Deputy Energy Minister Evgeny Grabchak noted that these systems will serve to balance loads on the power grid and increase electricity supply stability, especially during peak consumption periods. The implementation process depends on many technical factors, and work is being carried out in stages.
The company Rosseti is considered the project executor, as they have experience with energy storage facilities in the region and have already begun preparatory work. Experts believe that building these systems is significantly cheaper than constructing traditional power plants.
Previously, it was reported that there were plans to launch 250 MW storage systems in the Krasnodar region by the start of the summer season to stabilize electricity demand. These measures are expected to significantly increase the reliability of the regional energy system.
