At least 20 asteroids to fly past Earth within a month
Around 20 asteroids are expected to approach Earth within the next month. This was reported by Mikhail Maslov, an engineer at the Vega Observatory of Novosibirsk State University. The expert noted that the actual number of such objects could be higher due to detection limitations. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .
According to the expert, many asteroids are recorded by observation systems only a few days before they pass by Earth. As an example, the period from May 19 to May 24 was cited: 28 objects were registered near Earth, all of which were discovered shortly before their approach.
Automated telescopic systems such as Pan-STARRS and ATLAS are used to search for potentially hazardous celestial bodies. These systems regularly scan the sky, compare new images with archive data, and identify previously unknown objects.
Such technologies allow for the constant updating of the list of near-Earth asteroids. Currently, astronomers are working to ensure our planet's safety by monitoring movements in space.
