How many foreigners moved to Uzbekistan in the first three months of this year?

Uzbekistan, with its unique tolerance, peaceful life, and rapidly developing economy, attracts not only tourists but also foreigners who wish to settle here permanently. According to the latest reports published by the Statistics Agency, during the first three months of 2026 (January–March), the number of people who moved to our country for permanent residence was 721 foreign citizens .

Migration flow: Russia and neighboring countries lead

Looking at the geography of those choosing our homeland as their new place of residence, it is clear that the main share traditionally comes from close partners and neighboring countries. The figures are distributed as follows:

  • Russian Federation: More than a third of those who moved, i.e. 34.1 percent arrived from this country.

  • Kazakhstan: The second largest figure on the list is 19.7 percent.

  • Tajikistan: Rounding out the top three is 12.2 percent.

  • Kyrgyzstan: Accounts for 4.9 percentof the total migration flow.

  • Turkmenistan: The share of those who moved from the brotherly country is 3.7 percent.

The remaining 25.4 percent of total arrivals are citizens of various other countries around the world.

Regions that captivated foreigners

An analysis was also conducted on which parts of Uzbekistan are comfortable and attractive for foreign guests to live in. Naturally, our capital, as a center of modern infrastructure and broad opportunities, is the clear leader in this regard:

  1. Tashkent city: In three months, it gathered more than half of the total indicator — 454 foreigners became residents of the capital.

  2. Tashkent region: This region, distinguished by its beautiful nature and industrial potential, hosted 126 people .

  3. Republic of Karakalpakstan: To this unique historical land, 56 citizens arrived for permanent residence.

New residents have also been registered in other regions of our country. In particular, 14 foreigners started a new life in the tourism hub of Samarkand, and 11 each in the Fergana Valley and ancient Khorezm.

Also, 10 people were officially registered in Syrdarya, 9 in Navoi, and 8 in Bukhara, while 6 foreigners moved to Andijan, and 5 each to Jizzakh, Namangan, and Surkhandarya regions. The lowest dynamics in this regard were recorded in the Kashkadarya region — only 1 foreign citizen chose this area for permanent residence during the three months.

Such indicators clearly confirm that Uzbekistan's prestige in the international arena is growing, and it is becoming one of the safest places for foreigners to live in peace and happiness.

In your opinion, what is the main reason why foreign citizens choose the capital and Tashkent region for permanent residence?
