Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Ilham Aliyev discussed trade and investment projects

During his working visit to Baku, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. At the beginning of the conversation, the head of our state sincerely congratulated the Azerbaijani leader on the successful organization of the World Urban Forum. The parties reviewed issues of further developing strategic partnership and alliance relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. In particular, it was noted with satisfaction that the volume of mutual trade has increased by more than 40 percent since the beginning of the year.

At the meeting, the importance of accelerating cooperation projects in construction, mining, energy, agriculture, and tourism was emphasized. An agreement was also reached to expand cooperation by attracting funds from the Joint Investment Company.

The leaders paid special attention to strengthening cooperation in implementing initiatives in the transport sector and developing international transport corridors. The schedule of upcoming high-level events was also reviewed.
