Strong winds and rain expected in Uzbekistan


In Tashkent, the weather will be variable. There is a possibility of short-term rain and thunderstorms in the second half of the day. The wind will blow from the east at 3-8 m/s, occasionally reaching 10-12 m/s. Temperatures will be around 17-19°C at night and 30-32°C during the day.
Rain is also expected in some parts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the Khorezm region. Wind speeds may reach 13-18 m/s in some places, accompanied by dust storms. Daytime temperatures will rise to 29-34°C.
The weather in the Bukhara and Navoi regions will also be variable. Short-term rain and thunderstorms are forecast. Strong winds may cause inconvenience in some areas.
There is a high probability of precipitation in the Tashkent, Syrdarya, Jizzakh, and Samarkand regions. Wind speeds will increase to 18 m/s in some areas. Daytime temperatures will remain between 27-32°C.
In the Kashkadarya and Surkhandarya regions, the weather will be relatively hot. Temperatures may rise to 38°C in some places. At the same time, thunderstorms and strong winds are expected.
In the Fergana Valley — Andijan, Namangan, and Fergana regions — short-term rain is also possible. Wind speeds are expected to increase in some areas.
The situation in foothill and mountainous areas may be more serious. There is a possibility of heavy rain and flash floods. Experts urge caution.
It has been reported that a flood risk has been declared in nine regions of Uzbekistan until May 22. As a reminder, strong winds and rain were observed in some regions on May 18. Small hail was even recorded in the Zaamin district of the Jizzakh region.
