New toll roads and high-speed highways to be built in Tashkent

Great news for drivers tired of traffic jams in our capital! The Tashkent City Administration, in cooperation with Chinese investors and experts, is considering major projects to fundamentally improve the capital's transport system. There is no need for the concerns circulating on social media: it is not about making existing roads toll-based, but about building completely new and modern alternative routes.

So, what changes await Tashkent's roads? We have summarized the most important and firmly established projects for you.

A new, massive ring road bypassing the city

One of the largest projects is a new toll ring road nearly 100 kilometers long. This road will serve as an external auxiliary bypass to the current Tashkent Ring Road (TKAD).

As a result of the construction of this highway, traffic congestion at the city's busiest points—the areas around Kuyluk and Farhod markets, as well as the southern and eastern gates of the capital—will be significantly reduced. Large inter-regional trucks and transit vehicles will pass directly through this road without entering the city.

High-speed "green corridor" to the new airport

The second important facility will be a high-speed toll highway connecting the city center with the new international airport being built in the Tashkent region.

Once the new air harbor is operational, this road will prevent potential massive transport collapse and traffic jams at the city exit. Passengers and guests will be able to reach the airport quickly and without any obstacles.

What is the benefit of this system for drivers?

  • Freedom of choice: Every driver can choose according to their preference. Those who want to travel quickly and efficiently without traffic lights can choose the toll road, while those who are not in a hurry can use the existing free network as before.

  • Residential peace: Heavy transport and transit flows will be moved outside residential areas. Our beautiful capital's ecology and roads will be relieved of excessive pressure.

  • Foundation for the future: For Tashkent, which is growing rapidly and becoming a megapolis, these projects will create a strong logistical infrastructure reserve.

Currently, serious economic calculations are being carried out for these projects, and the most optimal transport models are being studied. Exact construction deadlines and usage tariffs will be announced later, once all processes are fully approved. We look forward to our capital's roads becoming smoother and faster!
