President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during a ceremony marking the inauguration of energy facilities, announced that over recent years, Uzbekistan has attracted $35 billion in international investments to develop its energy sector. According to the President, these investments have enabled the country's electricity production capacity to reach 85 billion kilowatt-hours.
This marks an increase of 20 billion kilowatt-hours compared to 2017. President Mirziyoyev emphasized that Uzbekistan is implementing comprehensive reforms in the energy sector amid the rapid growth of its economy.
The primary goal is to ensure stable energy supply across all regions and to develop energy production based on modern, environmentally friendly, and renewable sources. As part of these projects, solar and wind power plants with a total capacity of 5,000 MW and hydroelectric power stations with a capacity of 400 MW have been launched.
As a result, the share of "green" energy in the country’s energy balance has reached 30 percent.
