On November 11, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev inaugurated the construction of a new football stadium in New Tashkent. The head of state placed a capsule in the foundation of the stadium.
“The foundation laid today is the basis for our future victories,” said President Mirziyoyev. The total cost of the project amounts to 100 million US dollars.
This stadium will be among the most modern facilities in Asia, operating on green energy and equipped with smart technologies. According to the President, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan will host the U-20 FIFA World Cup in 2027.
The semi-final and final matches of the tournament are planned to take place in the stadium, which will have a capacity of at least 50,000 spectators. For this reason, a stadium meeting FIFA standards is set to be constructed in New Tashkent.
