Russian boxer Murat Gassiev defeated Bulgarian fighter Kubrat Pulev ahead of time in a bout for the WBA Regular World Heavyweight title. The fighters stepped into the ring on the night of December 13 as part of the IBA.PRO 13 tournament held in Dubai.
"I dedicate this victory to my mother. She sacrificed everything for us. This win is for her," Gassiev shared his thoughts after the fight. At the start of the bout, both boxers proceeded cautiously.
Pulev took the lead, actively controlling the distance with consistent jabs, while Gassiev moved carefully, occasionally landing body shots and maintaining a measured pace for the fight.
In the initial rounds, the Russian athlete rarely threw combinations, instead focusing on reading his opponent and studying his style. By the middle of the fight, the tempo remained moderate.
Pulev continued to aim for distance work, while Gassiev steadily claimed the center of the ring and increased the pressure. When the Russian boxer raised the intensity, he landed precise side and straight punches, although he did not do so frequently.
The decisive moment came in the sixth round. Following Pulev's next attack, Gassiev sharply closed the distance and delivered a short left-hand punch, knocking his opponent out cold.

Although the Bulgarian fighter attempted to get back on his feet, he was unable to continue the fight. This victory marked Gassiev's 33rd professional win, 26 of which he achieved by knockout.
Meanwhile, Pulev suffered the fourth loss of his career. Gassiev was previously a world champion in the cruiserweight division.
This victory over Pulev earned Gassiev the WBA title in the heavyweight category, further solidifying his place among the top fighters in the division.
