In Qatar, in the city of Doha, the World Chess Championship in rapid and blitz continues. The winner of the blitz tournament was Norwegian grandmaster Magnus Carlsen.
In the decisive final, Carlsen defeated Uzbekistan’s Nodirbek Abdusattorov 2.5–1.5 to claim the title. The final was tense and uncompromising, with several games played under severely limited time control.
In blitz, each player gets 3 minutes, with 2 seconds added per move. This fast pace demands intense focus, quick calculation, and rapid decision-making.
Abdusattorov progressed confidently through the rounds and was the only representative of Uzbekistan to reach the final. His result was noted as one of the championship’s standout performances.
For Carlsen, the Doha victory once again confirmed his dominance in fast chess. He remains one of the most decorated players in the history of the Rapid and Blitz World Championships.
