Sporting CP captain Morten Hjulmand speaks on Real Madrid interest

Sporting CP captain Morten Hjulmand has called being linked with Real Madrid a "great honor" amid growing speculation about his future. The Danish midfielder has become a primary target for the Spanish giants as they look to refresh their squad at the Santiago Bernabeu. This is reported by Goal.com .
Hjulmand has been performing exceptionally in the Portuguese league, catching the eye of the Real Madrid hierarchy, who are looking to strengthen their midfield. Reacting to the interest from the 15-time European champions, the player did not hide his pride: "Seeing my name linked with a club like Real Madrid is a great honor, but I am a Sporting player and I love this club. My focus is entirely on tomorrow's match."
The interest in the 26-year-old coincides with rumors that Jose Mourinho could return to Madrid. Reports suggest that the Portuguese tactician considers Hjulmand an ideal candidate for the heart of the midfield should he take charge. The transfer could cost Real Madrid approximately 50 million euros.
Sporting CP head coach Rui Borges also addressed the situation, noting that it is natural for Hjulmand's talent to attract such interest. "The fact that clubs like Real Madrid are talking about him shows that our work is on the right track. It makes me happy as a coach," said Borges.
Sporting CP is currently preparing for their final crucial match of the season — the Taca de Portugal final against Torreense. Hjulmand added that final decisions regarding a transfer will only be made once the season is fully concluded, and his current goal is to win the trophy.
