Starlink demonstrates Starship landing via buoys in the Indian Ocean

SpaceX has successfully completed the twelfth test flight of the Starship spacecraft. One of the most notable aspects of this mission was the live broadcast conducted using special buoys equipped with Starlink terminals. The video was published on the Starlink page. This is reported by Ixbt.com .

Floating platform-buoys were deployed in the Indian Ocean at the point where the ship's landing was planned. They provided a stable image in real time: the video shows Starship approaching the water vertically with engines running, creating a massive cloud of steam upon touchdown.

Officially, Starlink calls them buoys — these are compact, water-resistant devices with gyroscopically stabilized cameras and standard Starlink Mini terminals installed. They allow for the transmission of high-quality images and telemetry data in the open ocean where standard communication is unavailable.

Previously, GoPro also presented stunning footage from the Starship V3 flight. SpaceX also shared new videos captured using drones and 60 fps cameras. These shots show the rocket's launch from the pad and the landing process in detail.

Starship is an ultra-heavy, fully reusable transport system and spacecraft developed by SpaceX, led by Elon Musk. It is considered the largest and most powerful rocket ever created in the history of astronautics.
