Uzbekistan raises car registration fees

In Uzbekistan, the cost of obtaining vehicle registration plates has increased without any official announcement. The state duty for registering a vehicle has risen, making the overall registration process more expensive. Previously, the fee for number plates was 3.5 BHM (Base Calculation Value), but it has now increased to 5.5 BHM. Reports Autostrada.uz.

Drivers are discovering the increased fees only during the vehicle registration process, as they receive invoices reflecting the new charges without any prior explanation. This change means that used cars cannot be registered without replacing their number plates, adding to the financial burden on vehicle owners.

To complete the registration process at the Road Traffic Safety Department, payments must be made for the technical passport, vehicle registration, and number plates. Additionally, if payment receipts cannot be obtained through services like Payme or Click, an extra commission is charged for payments made at the department's cash desk.
